Are you a medical professional with a heart to help children in need as part of your Christian service to the Lord?

We work with medical volunteers to screen, monitor, and transport children for heart procedures to a partnering pediatric hospital. Children's Heart Project offers two ways to volunteer; pediatric cardiologist screening consultant and medical transporter.

Medical Transporter

Travel to Mongolia, Uganda, or Bolivia to transport children with congenital heart defects by commercial air to the accepting hospital in North America or Grand Cayman.

Qualifications for medical transporters:

  • Work as a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse or Pediatric Critical Care nurse practitioner.
  • Work in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) or cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.
  • Current U.S. nursing or medical license.
  • International travel experience (some vaccinations, such as yellow fever, may be required).
  • Valid U.S. passport (six months or longer before expiration date).
  • Follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Align with the Samaritan's Purse statement of faith.

Other considerations:

  • Work for a children's hospital that conducts pediatric congenital heart surgeries.
  • Previously worked for Samaritan's Purse.

Pediatric Cardiologist Screening Consultants

Travel with the Children's Heart Project team to Uganda, Mongolia, or Bolivia to screen children with congenital heart defects using the Children's Heart Project Vivid™ iq echocardiogram machine.

Qualifications for pediatric cardiologist screening consultants:

  • U.S. board certification in pediatric cardiology.
  • Proficient in the use of Vivid™ iq echocardiogram machines.
  • Currently working in a U.S. children's hospital.
  • International travel experience (some vaccinations, such as yellow fever, may be required).
  • Valid U.S. passport (six months or longer before expiration date).
  • Follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Align with the Samaritan's Purse statement of faith.
