DART Newsletter

April 2025

Greetings DART Members,

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”

Hebrews 11: 8-10

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now. In times like this we can sometimes find ourselves asking God for clarity. We know that He has a plan for our lives and for the people around us, but we want to know more about the specifics of what those plans are. We want to know the end result of the path we're walking, thinking that if we only knew how this particular situation would play out we would be better equipped to make wise decisions.

Yes, we want clarity because it takes us out of the uncomfortable unknown, out of a place of dependence, and lets us feel like we have control. We often want to chart the course ourselves, but the Bible tells us to walk in the Spirit. We want to know all the answers and understand the plans, but Jesus commands us to follow Him. The security we long for doesn't come from knowing how the future will play out; it comes from knowing and trusting God.

As for Abraham, we know how his life plays out because we've read about it in the Bible. But it's important to remember that when Abram heard the call of God he had absolutely no idea what was ahead. He didn't know what the journey would look like or even where the land was to which the Lord was telling him to go. He had no idea what challenges would face him or what decisions would need to be made along the way. But he knew the Lord, he had faith, and he followed.

We cannot avoid the uncertainty around us, but as Christians we should respond to the chaos in a Christ-honoring way. We do that by prioritizing knowing God through Scripture, where we learn about His character, and see His faithfulness and goodness. The world may be changing quickly, but God's character and His promises stay true.

In Christ,

Myanmar Earthquake Response

Samaritan’s Purse deployed an Emergency Field Hospital, water filtration systems, temporary shelter material, and other urgently needed items after a 7.7 earthquake hit Myanmar. Over 1,000 patients have been cared for at the hospital since it opened on April 8, and more than 100 surgeries have been completed. Six FreshSpring 4 water filtration units have been deployed that, combined, can produce 6,340 gallons of drinking water per hour, enough to supply over 20,000 people with three gallons per day. Please pray for those who are suffering and for our teams as they serve in Jesus’ Name.

Save the Date

Preparedness

Before travelling internationally, it's important to take the following personal security readiness steps:

  • Check that your emergency contact information is on file and up to date.
  • Memorize at least three essential phone numbers.
  • Have a legal will, living will, and power of attorney in place.

These steps can help ensure you're prepared for situations that may arise while abroad.
