
Mr. Jarvis Ray Capps, beloved husband and father, passed away at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill on Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was 84.
Jarvis was born on January 4, 1940, in Wilson, North Carolina. He retired in 2013 after a long and dedicated career that included positions such as: teacher, trainer, manager, mechanic, and truck driver. At a young age, Jarvis served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga.
Jarvis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sara Dixon Capps. Additionally, he is survived by his children, Steven Michael Capps (Brenda) and Susan Elizabeth Capps Townsend; his grandson, Ryan Capps (Sarah); and his great-grandchildren, Luke and Ella Grace Capps. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Capps (Wanda); and his sister, Ruth Frady (Ted); his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bert and Karen Dixon; and his sister-in-law, Doris Cheek; along with many loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jarvis will also be missed and loved by Brenda and Dale Fisher, and their children, Greg and Clif.
The family will receive extended family and friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at, Bratton Funeral Home Chapel, 1455 Filbert Highway, York, SC 29745. The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Operation Christmas Child/The Greatest Journey which spreads the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children around the globe. Jarvis brought his children up to love and respect Jesus and wanted his legacy to extend to spreading the Gospel to many other children worldwide.
