
Shirley “Jeanette” Norman, 88, of Carmel, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Jeanette was born September 26, 1932, in Pasadena, Maryland, to the late Warren F. and Margaret E. Henderson. She was one of 12 siblings. She married Henry "Clay" Norman on May 18, 1963, and they were married for 55 years until his death in 2018.
She began her career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Baltimore, and when she retired in the 1990s she was working as a bookkeeper for the Department of Natural Resources for the state of Maryland. After moving to Spring Hill, Florida, she became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Jeanette was a caring and compassionate person who gave generously to various charities and her church. Over the years she served as a Sunday school teacher and greeter, cared for family and friends, and enjoyed traveling.
Jeanette was the widow of Henry “Clay” Norman. She is survived by her son, Paul (wife, Laura) Norman; grandchildren, Katie Norman, Sarah (husband, Collin) Horton, Gracie Norman, and Lila Norman; sister, Marie Denner; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
