On the Ground in Texas: National Collection Week Celebrations!

November 16, 2017 • United States

Starting Nov. 11, our media team is posting regular updates from Operation Christmas Child packing parties and drop-off locations across southeastern Texas.

After months of shopping and packing the time is finally here—Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week! Shoeboxes collected across the country from Nov. 13-20 will soon be shipped around the world to children in need. As the gift-filled shoeboxes are given out by our local church partners, these boys and girls will also have an opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As part of National Collection Week (and a couple days before), we are visiting Operation Christmas Child packing parties and shoebox drop-off locations in southeastern Texas. We’re joining the Shoebox Shuffle 5K near San Antonio, visiting a church in the “cowboy capital of the world,” and making a stop in Rockport/Portland, where Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief volunteers have been hard at work for months after Hurricane Harvey.

We’re also interviewing Operation Christmas Child year-round volunteers and area coordinators and local pastors about why it’s so important to them to pack shoeboxes.

It’s time to put the finishing touches on your Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts! Don’t forget to Follow Your Box, and you will receive a tracking label to reprint and attach to each shoebox gift. The label will enable you to discover the country destinations of your shoebox gifts.

Shoebox drop-off locations are only open Nov. 13-20. Find the one closest to you and be sure to drop off your gifts before National Collection Week ends!
